History
The Iberian horse is native to the Iberian peninsula. One of the oldest of horse breeds, its domestication dates back as far as 3000 BC when Greek invaders feared the Iberian cavalry. Today, two breeds have derived from a common ancestor: the Lusitano, from Portugal, is the Royal breed in Portugal; and the Alter Real, or "royal stud".
