The Spotted Rafael Catfish, also known, as the Talking Catfish is an interesting fish. When taken out of water, it will make clicking noises, which is what they are best known for. Spotted Rafael are easy to care for and are friendly, which makes them a desired fish. Spotted Rafael Catfish are a peaceful animal. They are a solitary fish that will generally not bother other tank mates. They will do fine in a community tank, even if they are by themselves. The Spotted Rafael is nocturnal and will mostly hide during the day. Spotted Rafael Catfish should have course gravel as a substrate, as dirt or finer particles will make their tank murky from the constant digging. Live plants are acceptable as long as they can withstand the constant digging. They should also have plenty of hiding places. Like other Catfish, Spotted Rafael Catfish are mostly active at night and their tank should have low lighting levels.
