Well, I think online courtesy was only a short lived thing. When the internet was new people communicated to other through it like they are talking with people in front of them, because that's how they had always communicated. But slowly as newer generation came online, and teenagers are mostly rowdy, they figured out that they don't face any consequences of their words and speech online, which resulted in today's situation where people don't have respect for other people online. This condition only grew, so much so that now people have started talking to others in real world as they talk online.
